Anxiety/Busy Mind Reset

Simple Vagus Nerve Exercise

When you feel stress, anxiety or busy mind taking hold rest. It only takes moments to bring yourself back to center...works for me every time! For the first attempt with this exercise you may want to stretch out on your back leaving your legs uncrossed. As you recline, interlace your fingers with your palms facing you (creating a kind of cup) then reach up, over your head until you are cradling your head across your fingers. Close your eyes, take a few relaxing breaths then move just your eyes to the right keeping your nose pointing toward the ceiling - hold this side eye pose until you yawn or sigh which are signs your nervous system is calming. Once you have reached this stage looking right, look left holding your eyes to the left side until you feel you once again sigh or yawn. Some days you'll hold the side eye longer than others but as you practice this exercise peace will restore more quickly. Give it a try, you've got nothing to lose except stress, right?

Focus - find your intention for our time together

Practice the Awareness Technique - watch your thoughts go by as though they are the banner behind an airplane; wonder where they came from, wonder which direction the next will come from...realize you are not your thoughts.

Sit quietly, drink plenty of water, find a place where you will not be disturbed for our time together, have tissues on hand and be ready to release. Log in, breathe again, allow yourself to feel.
